- Venus lines amplify love, pleasure, beauty and money in that city.
- On your Descendant, you often meet Venus qualities in other people instead of living them yourself.
- Venus tied to Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus or Mars in your birth chart brings those patterns into love too.
- Juno and the ruler of your 7th house are just as important for long-term partnership.
Venus lines are the ones everyone circles first. Love, beauty, a bit of glamour. And sometimes that's exactly what you get. But I've also seen Venus cities bring people the most intense, obsessive or confusing relationships of their lives. The line isn't lying to you. It's just showing you your Venus, all of it.
What Venus does on each angle
Most people hope their Venus line will bring love. Sometimes it does. But the angle Venus is on decides where you feel it most: in yourself, in your relationships, in your work or at home.
💗 Venus rising (ASC)
On this line, Venus affects you first. You feel more attractive and relaxed, people are friendlier to you, and day-to-day life feels more enjoyable.
You might notice more compliments, take more care with how you dress, and find dating easier than it was at home.
The downside is that it's easy to overdo the nice things, like eating, drinking or spending more than you planned.
💍 Venus setting (DSC)
On this line, Venus comes to you through other people, like partners, clients and people you work with. It's a good line for warm, comfortable relationships.
You might meet a partner who is very generous with you, or a client who stays with you for years and brings in a big part of your income.
The risk is relying on one person for everything. If they bring all the love, money and comfort, they also hold a lot of power over you. I explain more about this below.
💼 Venus Midheaven (MC)
On this line, people like working with you, and that helps your career. It's good for money, art, beauty and any job where you deal with clients.
If you're a designer, stylist or makeup artist, you may find you get more bookings here without having to work as hard to find them.
The downside is that you can get too comfortable. The income is good and the clients are nice, so you stop pushing. That's fine if you want an easier life, but not if you moved there to grow your career.
🛋️ Venus IC (home)
On this line, Venus shows up in your home and family life. You're more likely to find a home you really love, enjoy having people over, and get on better with family.
It's a lovely line for settling down. Just make sure you still get out of the house.
Real love: when your Venus line works
A Venus line tends to bring healthy love when:
- Your Venus is in a comfortable sign. It's strongest in Taurus and Libra (home) and Pisces (exalted). It struggles in Scorpio and Aries (detriment) and Virgo (fall).
- Venus makes a trine or sextile to your angles rather than sitting exactly on one. These softer contacts are often easier to enjoy than an exact line.
- Juno, the asteroid of committed partnership, is supporting it. Juno on your angles is a classic signal for marriage and long-term relationships.
- The ruler of your 7th house connects to your angles, or Venus, Juno or your 7th ruler land in your relocated 7th house.
For example, if your Venus is in Taurus and trines Jupiter, your Venus line is likely to feel steady and generous. Relationships there tend to grow slowly and last, rather than starting fast and ending fast.
“A Venus line will reveal how much you think you're worth.”
Toxic love: when Venus brings the wrong planets
Whatever planets Venus aspects in your birth chart tag along onto the line. These are the ones to watch:
- Venus–Pluto: relationships at full volume. Jealousy, power imbalance, partners who want to merge money or identity fast, a pull that feels like fate.
- Venus–Saturn: love tied to duty or scarcity. Age or status gaps, long distance, not feeling chosen. The softer version can give a loyal, long marriage.
- Venus–Neptune: meeting someone who isn't who you think they are. Idealising, rescuing, or money draining into other people.
- Venus–Uranus: sudden starts and sudden endings. Partners who are unavailable and call it freedom.
- Venus–Mars: fast attraction, and conflict as a love language.
Here's how that looks on the same Venus Descendant line. If your Venus squares Pluto, you might meet someone you feel very drawn to, but who also wants to control where you go and who you see. If your Venus squares Saturn, you're more likely to meet someone older, or to start with a long-distance relationship before things get easier.
And here's the tricky part. A trine or sextile between those planets doesn't make it safe. It just makes the pattern feel like chemistry, so nobody questions it for years.
Why your Venus Descendant line isn't a dating app
Here's the catch with the Descendant. Planets there are often projected onto other people. In other words, instead of feeling more beautiful or relaxed yourself, you may keep meeting partners who carry all the Venus energy for you.
That can be lovely. It can also mean you hand over your own sense of worth, money or pleasure to whoever you're dating. The healthiest way to use a Venus DC line is to keep some of that Venus for yourself.
Venus for money and creative work
Venus isn't only about romance. It also works for:
- For money: Venus making a trine or sextile to your Midheaven.
- For artistic and creative work: Venus or Neptune on, or making a trine or sextile to, your Ascendant or Midheaven.
For example, a painter with Venus trine their relocated Midheaven might sell more work and get more gallery interest in that city, even if nothing changes in their love life.
So a Venus MC city might be better for your income or your art than for your love life. I wrote more about career and money lines in want fame and fortune? Try activating these astrocartography lines.
When to think twice
If your Venus is the focal point of a T-square or a grand cross in your birth chart, be careful about putting it on an angle and expecting an easy time. It's not a no. It's a reason to go in with your eyes open and good boundaries.
This is a reason to be organised, not a reason to be afraid. Nothing in a birth chart causes another person's behaviour.
Don't forget real-world practicalities like your income, visa restrictions, family obligations, climate preferences & cultural assimilation like language etc. Your relocated charts won't show all that.

What does a Venus line mean in astrocartography?
A Venus line marks where Venus was on one of your four angles when you were born. Living near it puts love, pleasure, beauty and money themes in focus.
Is a Venus line good for love?
It can be, especially if your Venus is in a strong sign and well aspected. If Venus is tied to Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus or Mars, those patterns show up in love too.
What is a Venus Descendant line?
Venus on your Descendant brings love and comfort through partners. You may also project Venus onto others, meeting people who carry that energy for you.
Is a Venus line good for money?
Venus making a trine or sextile to your Midheaven is one of the classic money signals, so a Venus MC city can support income through charm and client work.
What else should I check for marriage?
Look at Juno and the ruler of your 7th house, and whether Venus, Juno or the 7th ruler land in your relocated 7th house.
